What is Connect Decatur?

Connect Decatur is an initiative designed to promote unity among Decatur's ethnically diverse population. The program was proposed by the Mayor's Task Force in 1996 to challenge the community and its leaders to become actively engaged in improving ethnic relations in Decatur.

The objectives of Connect Decatur are to form partnerships between Decatur's churches of diverse ethnic compositions for on going working relationships. The main goal is to identify, develop and implement social service projects designed to meet the needs of the community. Connect Decatur is Churches in Partnership to build a better community.

Connect Decatur Invites You!

Through Connect Decatur, you have a unique opportunity to unite with others in addressing issues important to all of us. Connect Decatur is a program of the Volunteer Center of Morgan county, Inc., which, for over 25 years, has been connecting real people to real issues for real solutions.

As part of Connect Decatur, your church can join together with another church, and side by side, work on topics that you both care about, such as:

  • Environment / Beautification
  • Education
  • Recreation
  • Poverty and homelessness
  • Health transportation
  • Crime, abuse, and neglect

Whether your church is large or small, your community needs you.
